What a day for an absolutely amazing trail run! Behind my house is a gorgeous hill called Craigrossie and it's been a favourite of mine ever since I moved here.
Today I had a good breakfast, went to church and prayed for sun and got my Saucony trail shoes on.
I forgot how freeing it is to take off away from civilisation in to hills and how quickly you forget the everyday problems of life.
Running up I had a few run ins with sheep but apart from that I didn't see a soul. To me that was total tranquility and I really value the time to occasionally take myself somewhere completely on my own.
The view at the top was beautiful even though it was a bit cloudy, and I had a good break after my incline to take a load of photos.
Technique wise it was really tricky as there was a lot of overgrown grasses and heathers which made footing even more challenging than usual. I found I was looking down a lot as I was so paranoid about rolling my ankles and I was having to seriously concentrate on every single step.
I run in a Saucony Peregrine 5 shoe which I'm still running in, and have had a few blisters, but grip wise i trust 100%.
These kind of runs remind me why I'm a total trail convert, and whilst it was road running that got me into running and brought me some awesome marathon and half marathon experiences, my heart is truly off the beaten track.
